Bingo – A numbers game
Do you have a favourite number or even a number of favourite numbers? Most people do. It can be quite surprising how different people react emotionally to different numbers and the reason might be because our brains are hard wired into personalising things that are really impersonal.
Also it seems that people with similar personality types favour similar numbers. People who are religious will often favour the number 3. One reason for this could be that the number 3 features in many religions, not just Christianity with its Holy Trinity.
Recently a group of mathematicians were asked about their favourite numbers and they came up with a huge variety of different ones. We will not go into the details here, but it is interesting to note that although these people deal with numbers every day of their working lives, they still really do have favourite ones.
Often favourite numbers relate to birth dates and they are the ones that often are chosen as lottery numbers. That is the reason why it is best to choose lottery numbers greater than 31; doing so will not help your chances of winning but it should ensure that, should you be lucky enough to win, you will have to share your winnings with fewer people.
Bingo is a numbers game, and many people like to see specific numbers appear on their bingo cards – you can read the latest games here if you want to. If you consider your lucky number to be 7 (it is a very popular number) you might be happy to see that your card had on it 7, 77, and many other numbers containing the numeral 7. Alternatively you might consider that that there were far too many 7s and so it would be unlikely that they all would be called.
We all know that in the end bingo is purely a game of chance. Any bingo card is as likely to win as any other card. Our minds are fully aware of this, but our emotions will still hang on to the impression that some numbers are luckier for us than are other numbers. There may even be some numbers that we really hate.
So, don’t worry about the numbers; just enjoy the game; and a great place to do that is at bingo’s natural home: meccabingo.com.
